I’ve scanned this nice article about Jimbo Wales (the founder of Wikipedia) I read on ExecutiveDigest today (sorry, only Portuguese).

Basically, he talks about his desire to compete with Google in the search business, he wants to bring Google down the same way he did to Encyclopedia Britannica with Wikipedia.
Personally I am a big fan of the “given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow” principle that rules Wikipedia and I would love to see this accomplished in the search universe, not because that I don’t like Google (I do) but, if this is possible, then impossible is nothing… Who knows?
PS: Sorry about the fuzziness.
That is an extremely interesting article, I’ll be reading more focused tomorrow, but the headline is very catchy and the content is nice to.
I’m in favor of new Google rivals, but ceptic about its success.
Google isn’t just a search engine or a company, its something more in the heads of their users. It will be rather difficult to fight such a psychological and monetary giant… but you know what they say!
The bigger they are, the bigger they fall. Or something like that.
I found a exact english translation of the articled published by ExecutiveDigest Portugal, you can read it here.
Yes, I agree with you Stuart - the willing to do one thing is not enough to accomplish it - I know this by heart, but lets see what surprises Jimbo has for us… After all he beat Larry in the sailing race!
Everything is impossible until someone does it.
