Two very useful programs…

I was searching for software that could display a visual representation of database relationships and I came across these two gems on Open Source Windows.

The first one is called Freemind, it’s a free mind mapping little software, whatever your brain can think of, Freemind can organize it - you can use it to plan projects, and so on. Here is a screenshot of something I’m working on (sorry, low resolution only - the project is confidential):

The second application I would like to tell you about is called Pidgin - a multi-protocol Instant Messaging client, if you know Trillian is much like it, only better. Now you don’t need to have WLM (formely MSN), Google Talk and others eating up your computer resources and creating confusion among your GUI. Currently Pidgin (2.0.1) supports the following IM protocols:

  • AIM
  • Bonjour
  • Gadu-Gadu
  • Google Talk
  • Groupwise
  • ICQ
  • IRC
  • MSN
  • QQ
  • SILC
  • SIMPLE
  • Sametime
  • XMPP
  • Yahoo!
  • Zephyr

(Quite a list…) :P

PS: If you are looking for a way to do Gantt and PERT charts take a look at GanttProject, it does (probably) everything you’ll need.

The Pidgin thing is nice to know about it, but that Freemind… Damn, that is indeed useful to me.
    Thank you very much.
